Green Day and Other Shirt Designs
I’ve made a lot of shirts for a lot of people, but this is my highest profile one. It was sold in their online stores for a few years, but has since been retired. The design is based on my personal experience of finding the band, on a little blue cassette tape.
As is the case with many of my favorite projects, it’s a mix of digital and analog. The tape was made digitally in Illustrator, and then distressed in Photoshop. I tried some different fonts, but there’s really no substitute for actual handwriting when you want something to look like actual handwriting, so I filled up a sketchbook with it. To do a bit of censoring, so that kids could wear it to school, I just rubbed away at the paper until it was illegible enough.
Below are even more shirt designs and a few buttons, because so much of my freelance work has revolved around creating merch.
